Random Trivia Questions
Most trivia questions have exactly one right answer. The questions on this page do not. Each one is open, with many correct answers, and the rarest answer at the table wins. Draw a random question for your group below, read the rules for playing with a table or a classroom, or print all 50 questions with a separate answers sheet for the host. The questions come from Uncommon Trivia, a daily game that scores every answer by how rarely it gets looked up.
Pick a random question
Name a Canadian province or territory
How to play with a group
- One player is the host. The host draws a question with the picker above or reads the next one from the list.
- Every player has 30 seconds to write down one answer in secret.
- On the host's signal, everyone shows their answer at the same time.
- A wrong answer scores 0 points. A correct answer that another player also wrote scores 1 point. A correct answer that nobody else wrote scores 3 points.
After a few rounds, the player or team with the highest total wins.
Who decides what is correct? The host does. A question has too many right answers to list on a page, so when the host is unsure, check the matching list on Wikipedia. The number of correct answers on the answers sheet shows how wide each question is.
The rare pick earns no bonus: it is only one example, so hitting it would be luck. For exact rarity scores, play the daily puzzle or unlimited mode.
All 50 questions
Print the list to hand out the questions. The questions come first and the answers start on a new page, so the host can keep the answer pages apart from the questions.

Common questions
What are open trivia questions?
An open question has many correct answers instead of one. A question that asks you to name a country in Africa, for example, accepts every African country. Open questions work well for groups because every player can answer, and they add a twist: an answer nobody else at the table wrote scores the most.
How many questions are there, and how many answers does each have?
There are 50 open questions on this page, one for each category in Uncommon Trivia's unlimited mode. The number of correct answers depends on the category: the smallest has 8 and the largest has 225. The answers sheet on this page gives the exact number for every question.
How do you play these questions with a group?
One person is the host. For each question, every player secretly writes one answer within 30 seconds, then everyone shows their answers at the same time. A wrong answer scores 0 points, a correct answer that another player also wrote scores 1 point, and a correct answer that nobody else wrote scores 3 points. The host decides what counts as correct and checks Wikipedia when unsure. After a few rounds, the highest total wins.
Can I print the questions and the answers?
Yes. Press the Print this list button and the browser prints only the page title, the full list of questions and the answers. The questions come first and the answers start on a new page, so the host can keep the answer pages apart from the questions. The picker, the rules and the site header and footer are left out of the printout.
Where do the answers and the rare picks come from?
Every question is a category from Uncommon Trivia, and its list of correct answers is built from Wikidata and Wikipedia. Rarity follows how often an answer's English Wikipedia page is read: the most looked-up answer scores 10 points and the least looked-up scores 100. The rare pick for each question is a correct answer toward the rare end of the range, though never the rarest one.
